Winemaker Magazine Amateur Winemaking Competition 2009

Award-winning winemakers choose Winexpert brands!

At the 2009 WineMaker International Amateur competition, held April 17-19, wines made with Winexpert brands were awarded a total of 267 medals. For the third year running, our “New Millennium” Sparkling wine kit took home Best of Show honours in the sparkling wine category.

Each year, winemakers throughout North America put their trust in Winexpert and enter wines made with our products, and each year those wines consistently receive amazing results in this competition across all of Winexpert brands; Limited Edition, Estate, International, Original, World Vineyard, Vintners Reserve, Spéciale and Island Mist– a testament to their winemaking ability and also to the award-winning quality that Winexpert wine kits produce.

The highlights:

* Wines made with Limited Edition took home more awards than ever before with a total of 72, far exceeding last years already high number of 55. Once again, every variety offered in Selection Limited Edition last year was awarded a medal. This makes it five years in a row!

* Selection Estate Series wine kits took home 52 medals. Six varieties won gold including Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Lodi Ranch 11 Cabernet Sauvignon and New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

* Wines made with Selection Spéciale won an incredible 38 medals. Our Port, Cab Franc Icewine style, and Riesling Icewine style were once again gold medal winners, as well both of last years Seasonal Release varieties, Chocolate Raspberry Port and Okanagan Peach Icewine were gold medal winners.

The results above reflect that of just one competition. Each year, wines made with Winexpert products win hundreds of medals at major amateur winemaking competitions held throughout North America.
