April NewsletterDear Customer, This month promises to be a very exciting in many ways. We were informed of two really interesting and unique products that have been released this month and are only available till the end of summer. The Island Mist Series is gaining a side project call Twisted Mist with two flavours that are sure to be a summer time hit. The flavours are Mojito and Strawberry Margarita. The price for these products are $135 each or $79 if you just want the kit to make at home. For more on these products see our article on them Get Twisted! Then in May there will be a release of two wines in the Estate Series but in small lots. These wines are anticipated to only last part way through the summer so if they look interesting to you don't wait or they may be gone. The white is BC Chardonnay and the red is a 3 Continents Meritage. We will also be doing the 3 Continents Meritage in the oak barrel. Spots in the barrel are going to go fast and if you don't want to miss out let us know as soon as you can. The price for these two will be $210 to be made at the store or $154 to take the juice home and make it there. If you are expecting to bottle in April or early May and you are needing custom labels, please let us know the label information (i.e. what label, saying, font) as soon as possible. Michael will be away from the store for a little bit during that time and he is our label maker and the only one who knows the software therefore labels may not be able to be made at the time of bottling or a the last minute. Selection Limited Edition Series The April Limited Editions are now here. If you have placed a deposit on one of them, expect a phone call soon to remind you to come in to pay the balance and get it started or feel free to pop in when you have a chance. We are now sold out of the California Lake County Trio Blanca and there are only a few South African Shiraz and Australian Petite Verdot left.

Tip Of The MonthHow to Pronounce Wine Names It is not uncommon for people to struggle with how to say the names of many wines, whether French, German or Italian. Thanks to the wonder of the Internet, there are all sorts of sites that will help with pronunciation. In addition to phonetics, some even have audio so you can hear the word. Here are some Web pages to consult: wineloverspage.com has more than 400 audible terms in its lexicon section, ranging from simple (earthy) to complex (Erzeugerabfüllung). tastersguildny.com offers a comprehensive glossary of wine-related terms and phonetic pronunciations to help untie your tonue. stratsplace.com has a dictionary containing wine terminology, regions and wineries. The majority of entries have an audible pronunciation. louislatour.com is a family-run producer of Burgundian wine and the sound library on its site has audio pronunciations of many wine names — from the two syllables in chablis, to Chénas and Chevalier-Montrachet Grand cru « Les Demoiselles. » bbr.com is the place to go if Bordeaux properties are particularly tongue-twisting for you. This 300-year-old wine merchant provides audio pronunciations for more than 100 chateaux. allaboutgreekwine.com has information on the history of Greek wine, grape varieties and phonetic and audio pronunciation—the tongue-twisting Agiorghitiko is pronounced “Ah yor yee’ ti ko.” But don’t let a lack of linguistic skills keep you from enjoying wine. After all, very few people can pronounce words in every language, from Trockenbeerenauslese to Vacqueyras. Not only that, but “correct” pronunciation is often a matter of opinion or regional preference. This article was adapted from a Wine Notes item by Dorothy J.
