He was born April 23rd at 8:26am, 7lb 5.8oz. This is Sandra's third Grandchild but the first she was around for the birth. We have already taught him how to empty bottles although they are not wine the process is the same. May brings the release of two wines in the Estate Series but in small lots. These wines are anticipated to only last part way through the summer so if they look interesting to you don't wait or they may be gone. The white is BC Chardonnay and the red is a 3 Continents Meritage. We will as an extra bonus be doing the BC Chardonnay in the Barrel, it is time for us to get a new barrel and we wanted to take this chance to do a white wine in it. Also we will be offering the 3 Continent Meritage for barrel aging. Spots in the barrels are going to go fast and if you don't want to miss out let us know as soon as you can. The price for these two will be $210 to be made at the store or $154 to take the juice home and make it there. If you buy in the month of May you will receive a free Eisch Breathable Glass ($29 Value). If you are expecting to bottle in April or early May and you are needing custom labels, please let us know the label information (i.e. what label, saying, font) as soon as possible. Michael will be away from the store for a little bit during that time and he is our label maker and the only one who knows the software therefore labels may not be able to be made at the time of bottling or a the last minute. Selection Limited Edition Series All the Limited Editions are now here. If you have placed a deposit on one of them you can come in to pay the balance and get it started. We are now sold out of the California Lake County Trio Blanca, Australian Petite Verdot and South African Shiraz and there are only 3 Pacific Quartet and 8 Italian Brunello left. Twisted Mists The Twisted Mists have been a huge success so far, so much so Winexpert is already out of them for a short period of time. They are coming back very soon and since this product is good to drink right away, there is still lots of time to make a batch or two for the summer. If you are interested please let us know so we can reserve some for you. Selection Estate Series Crushendo Winexpert has decided to end the Crushendo series. The regular Selection Estate Series kits are still remaining and in the future there will be another line that is going to be even better than the current Crushendo line. They have been perfecting a way to get all the benefits of the grape skins with out the mess of putting the actual grape skins in. Once this new line is formally announced we will let you know. HSTJust to let everyone know effective June 1, 2010 Beyond The Grape will have to start charging the HST on the service charge for wines made in the store. This is because at that point more than 10% of our service will be completed after July 1, 2010. The grape juice will remain tax exempt. Tip Of The MonthWine Serving Tempratures White wine served too cold loses its flavor. An ice bucket filled with a mixture of half ice and half water will chill wine faster than ice alone. White wine will reach its optimum serving temperature in about half an hour when chilled in a combination of ice and water. White wine will reach its optimum serving temperature in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours when chilled in the refrigerator. Red wine, if it is too cold from storage, can be warmed in a bucket of tepid water.
